Biography
Charles E. “Chuck” Thorpe was born in Michigan and travelled extensively throughout his childhood, including seven years in the Congo where he taught high school classes. He graduated with a B.A. in natural science from North Park College in Chicago and a Ph.D. in computer science from Carnegie Mellon University. Thorpe was heavily involved in autonomous driving research at Carnegie Mellon’s Robotics Institute, was a founding dean of Carnegie Mellon’s campus in Qatar, and is currently Senior Vice President and Provost at Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York.
